Things to Know Before you Buy
The r17a-AC operates via a touchscreen using intuitive icons
This unit operates on a touchscreen and does not contain manual buttons or dials. The icons are intuitive and easy to use.
The r17a-AC is most suitable for hearing screenings and not designed to serve as a clinical/diagnostic audiometer
From a pure tone audiometry perspective, the r17a-AC offers air conduction capabilities only. Bone conduction is not a feature nor an option for this unit.
Technical support, calibration, and service is provided and managed through Oaktree Products
Responsive, efficient, and effective support is critical for busy providers to be able to use their equipment without delay. Equipment calibration is required annually. Equipment may need to be serviced over the years. Oaktree Products has made arrangements to coordinate and provide support, calibration and service to allow providers to focus on their clinical practice.
There are other r17a models available that offer more features than the r17a-AC
Two additional r17a models are available including the r17a-BC and r17a-HDA. Unlike the r17a-AC, both the r17a-BC and r17a-HDA offer air and bone conduction testing capabilities and an auto-threshold feature. The major difference between the r17a-BC and r17a-HDA is the -HDA version also offers extended high frequency capabilities. The figure below illustrates the main differences between the three r17a models:
